High school counselors and non-profit college and career advisers – join us for another year of learning, sharing resources, and connecting with one another at PDI workshops! This year, St. Louis Graduates is pleased to co-host PDI with the Missouri College Access Network (MOCAN). 

All workshops are FREE and open to colleagues across Missouri and southern Illinois thanks to support from the Norman J. Stupp Foundation, Commerce Bank trustee, and Missouri Scholarship & Loan FoundationFinancial aid workshops are held in partnership with MASFAP, the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel. Career pathways workshops are held in partnership with STEMSTL.

Test Optional, Dual Credit and Early Admissions: Implications for Student Planning
In the era of test-optional admissions, should students still take the ACT or SAT? Which students benefit most from early decision or early action? What role does dual credit play in admissions? In this workshop we’ll talk about course selection, testing and other decisions that may impact college admissions.

For students from low-income communities and Black students, finding the right college goes beyond academic and financial fit; culture, community and support are critical factors. In this roundtable discussion, TRIO and student success leaders from multiple Missouri and Illinois colleges in the Postsecondary Equity Network will share what they are doing to create an inclusive, supportive campus community so you can best advise your students.

Advising Students Interested in Attending HBCUs and HSIs
This workshop will focus on how to best advise students interested in attending Historically Black College & Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), including tips on ensuring a good fit and how to find scholarship resources.

Advising LGBTQIA+ Students

How can counselors connect with and engage LGBTQIA+ students in developing a postsecondary plan that meets their needs? In this interactive workshop, dynamic presenter Jeff Perkins will share strategies and resources to help you best support your students.

Advising Students on Non-Degree Career Programs with STEMSTL 
Most jobs today require education and training beyond high school but not all require a degree. In this workshop, we’ll explore postsecondary programs that lead to a quality certificate, and training programs that prepare students for specific careers. We’ll also share scholarship resources for students attending technical and trade schools.
This workshop is co-presented with our partners at STEMSTL.

Interpreting Financial Aid Offer Letters and Identifying Gap Funding with MASFAP
Students are receiving financial aid offer letters and they have questions! In this workshop, financial aid professionals from multiple colleges will help you best advise your students on interpreting and comparing financial aid offers so students are making informed financial aid decisions. We’ll also review the difference between grants and loans in filling financial aid gaps, strategies for working with institutional financial aid offices, and resources for scholarships still open to students planning for fall 2022.
